The 9th Assembly of the Students Representative Council of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU’SRC) held its sitting on Saturday, November 12, at the SRC chamber of the Kunle Adepeju Building to deliberate over sundry issues, one of which was the exam welfare for the SRC members.
While the House budget was being presented, an argument ensued over an amount of 900 Naira earmarked for the 138 honourable members in first and second semester, which amounts to 248,400 Naira.
Idoko Adoyi, a representative of Indy Hall constituency, argued that “representatives who sacrifice their time to serve the students deserve to be taken care of”.
During the argument, the Speaker of the House, Eniola Olatoye, explained that the exam packages will take place only if the House gets sponsors.
In response, another Indy Hall representative, Chiedo Collins, stated that funds from sponsors still belong to the students. He opined that since the students have in the past rejected the motion, then he does not deem it proper for the house to go ahead and approve the motion.
Eventually, the motion was later approved following the recommendations of the Speaker.
