“Establishment of Independence Hall Sportsmen Congress”, a bill sponsored by Hon. Doeju Goodluck of A4 Constituency, was rejected at its first reading which came up at the sitting of the Great Independence Hall Legislative Assembly, held on Friday, October 22, 2018, at the Junior Common Room, Independence Hall. The bill, which seeks came into being due to issues arising from the organisation of sporting activities in the hall, especially the on-going Katanga Elites Football Association competition, was rejected, based on the fact that the objectives and functions stated in it do not really differ from those of the sports committee. In reacting to the bill, honourable members of the assembly asked that the bill be not passed to avoid duplicating functions in the constitution, and some suggested that the bill be re-addressed since it somehow touches on political issues. The speaker, Rt.Hon. Tolulope Adeyemi, in summary, asked the sponsor of the bill, Hon. Doeju Goodluck, to re-address the bill, taking into consideration, suggestions and comments made on the floor of the house.
