At the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) Conference, students (attendees) were geared to tap into the future.

The third edition of the conference which held at the Trenchard hall, Wednesday, March 4, 2020 had engaging sessions like exhibition, Keynote address and the panel session.

The Dean of Technology, Prof. O.A Fakolujo, expatiated on some items displayed during the exhibition. He said “CDD camera is used to capture aerial view” when using the drone/copter.

Engr. Wale Adeniran also spoke on solving problems. According to him, “The first problem faced by man was how to navigate.” He said, “The industry is waiting for creative minds to solve problems like hazardous problems. Thus, he challenged lecturers to change the curricular to solve realistic problems faced in this day and age.

Dr. O.A Adeyemi also discussed on automation, integration, and how digitalization plays a significant role in areas of engineering science. During his address, he called attention to Manufacturing intelligence where one is cautious and meticulous in creation. He advised that students should learn adaptability skills and not just engineering. He said students should always think of entrepreneurship and not just learning mechanical engineering. “The way you’re taught is into the past and not future,” he stated, while making reference to the current situation faced by students in higher institution.
