The Editor-in-Chief of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, Tijani Abdulkabeer, has been selected for the prestigious 2024 One World Media Global Short Docs Forum Fellowship alongside five other journalists.

This was made official in an ongoing five days workshop hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, this week by One World Media in Collaboration with East African Film Fund, Docubox, as part of the plans for successful finalists.

As the only selected ideas from the Nigerian participants, the Programme Manager at One World Media, Dawn Payne noted that Abdulkabeer’s idea was the only one that demonstrated originality and took into account proper feasibility study.

Working in mixed pairs over the next few months, each team will produce a short film on shared health challenges faced by both countries. The teams will receive funding of $7000USD to produce their documentary.

These selected participants would also be guided by health specialists, executive producers, and mentors, including Nigeria Health Watch and Science Africa.

Other finalists alongside Abdulkabeer are Lilys Njeru (Kenya), Nick Wambugu(Kenya), Melony Ishola (Nigeria), Ade Oyeyipo (Nigeria), and Treezer Michelle Atieno(Kenya).
