PDP AND INEC HAVE JOINED FORCES – TINUBU

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who asked the President to resign made this known on Wednesday while speaking during the formal declaration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed’s bid for second term in office in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to Tinubu who said PDP should be voted out in 2015: “I saw the sea of refugees caused by the Boko Haram insurgents and the lies coming from Jonathan’s administration.

They have exhibited failure, lack of capacity, vision and creativity. The lies of yesterday are what they repeat today and are what they will repeat tomorrow. They are lying to you.

“They are lying about the security, toying about the security of this country. I don’t have time to explain the logic of their lies.

“But if you control the armed forces and you are the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, why should any part of this country be under occupation? And you give us excuses every day. In any civilized country Jonathan should have resigned. But if he will not resign, he should wait for our broom, we will sweep him away. I will come back”.

BOKO HARAM CAN BE DEFEATED IN 2 MONTHS IF…

Governor RochasOkorocha of Imo State, has said that if visionary and efficient leadership is encouraged at the highest level of power in Nigeria, the dreaded Boko Haram sect could be stopped in two months.

Speaking on Friday, November 7, during a dinner he organised for media executives and nominees from across the country, who were in Owerri for the Nigeria Media Merit Award 2014, the governor said inappropriate usage of both the human and material resources by leaders contributed to government’s inability to tackle insurgencies in the country.

Okorocha explained that Boko Haram insurgency had remained hard to control because some people were gaining from from it.

According to him, no president of Nigeria had plans to fail in governance, Nigerian Tribune reports.

No nation is poor in terms of human and material resources, the problem has always been about leadership,” Okorocha said.

He said that decentralisation of power was germane to solving the challenges facing the country.

He therefore charged journalists to rise up to the challenges of their profession and ask political leaders about their activities in government, adding that media profession has lost the culture of investigative journalism.

2 FEARED DEAD, 20 OTHERS INJURED AT UYO STADIUM INAUGURATION

Two persons were feared dead and 20 others injured in a stampede at the entrance of AkwaIbom International Stadium on Friday during its inauguration. The crowd control was a difficult task in spite of the road blocks mounted some kilometres away from the stadium.

Although the spectators got tickets to enable them access the 30, 000 capacity stadium, the crowd started thronging the stadium about five hours ahead of the scheduled time for the match.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Health, DrEmemBassey, said that two unconscious persons were taken to an undisclosed hospital.

“I was told that two persons have been taken to the hospital; these are perhaps people who were fighting at the gate in their bid to enter the stadium,” Bassey said.

He said that the third unconscious person, a woman, was revived in the stadium and had started talking.“It should be expected; this is the first time this is happening, everybody is excited, everybody wants to enter the stadium.

“We have 150 medical personnel in this place and eight ambulances. All our medical teams are up and doing and all the clinics are manned,” Bassey said.

NAN reports that the security operatives at some check points were using horse whips and tear-gas to control the crowd.
