Missing UI Student, Williams Paul, Successfully Contacted — UI’SU President Confirms

The President of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU), Covenant Odedele, has confirmed that Uchenna Williams Paul Okey, the 400-level student of Archaeology and Anthropology earlier declared missing, has been “successfully contacted.”

Covenant made the announcement via his WhatsApp status on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at exactly 7:26 p.m.

Recall that in an interview with IndyPress on November 8, 2025, the Students’ Union President had disclosed that the University management was making relentless efforts to ensure the safe return of the missing student.

Announcing the latest development, Odedele wrote: “This is to inform the entire student body and the wider university community that Uchenna Williams Paul Okey, the President of the Archaeology & Anthropology Department who was declared missing weeks ago, has been successfully contacted. We can confirm that he is safe, fine, hale & hearty, and will resume school soon.”

He also extended appreciation to members of the university community who showed concern during the period of uncertainty, including student leaders, faculty staff, the Security Unit, and the Student Affairs Division.

“We thank every concerned UITE for their efforts and concern during this period… All thanks to the Almighty God. Nothing missing, nothing broken,” he added.
