BRIEFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF
I’m koleosho A. Ololade. 21 years old, born on the 3 of January. I am a 300 level student of the department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts. I am the last born of the three hardworking girls of my parents.
HARDWORKING, THAT IS A BIG WORD, WHICH MEANS YOU DO OTHER THINGS APART FROM SCHOOL?
Yes, I am a business owner. A mobile make-up artist and hair stylist to be precise.
AND YOU ARE A STUDENT TOO?
Yes, I am a full-time student.
HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO BALANCE BEING A FULL-TIME STUDENT PLUS BEING A MAKE-UP ARTIST AND A HAIR STYLIST?
It is not easy but so far I have been able to handle both. Over time, I learnt to manage time, place more priority on certain things and not get carried away. Passion is what I have for my business plus hard work that I put into in to grow the business and the level of hardwork I put to my school work.I have order to be fulfilled on both sides. With good friends and family that supports, it has been a success so far.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
It has been 2 years since I resumed in 100 level but my business would be a year old on the 18th of October, 2015. What inspires me is my background and my sisters.
WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT THE PERSON?
My role model is Mrs Kunbi Fashakin of SitPretty Beauty. Her attention to details is what drives me and also her level of creativity is to lie for!
CAN YOU SHARE A LITTLE OF THIS BACKGROUND THAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am not comfortable sharing those stories but I should over time.
DO YOU THINK THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY FAVOURS YOUR LINE OF BUSINESS?
Yes it does! Hugely! I can proudly say Nigeria has good make-up artists that are making it.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES INVOLVED IN THIS BUSINESS?
Being a mobile makeup artist, transportation and the cost of travelling here and there is a major challenge. I do not have a car yet.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS TIME?
In five years I see myself in my own beauty parlour providing services for people with comfort and inspiring others.
HAVE YOU DONE ANY MAJOR WORK THAT YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE PROUD OF?
The major work I would always be proud of meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. I was opportune to work on his face and he remarked how glad he felt that I was able to reduce the bags under his eyes. I was hired to work with the photographer who was documenting the VC’s four years in office.
DOES THE SCHOOL SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS?
Yes of course the school supports my business. At least there is a centre for Entrepreneurship which supports entrepreneurship and promotes it amongst the students.
