I CRIED AT THE UCJ SECRETARIAT—Mr. Fisayo Soyombo

Mr. Fisayo Soyombo, a former President of the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ibadan and an Editor of The Cable, has said that there were times when he cried due to circumstances that occurred during his regime as President of UCJ, University of Ibadan.

He disclosed this while admonishing the new executives of the Union (30th administration), at the Luncheon/Award ceremony organized by the 29th administration of the Union, under the leadership of Mr. Oredola Ibrahim, on the 5th of November 2016.

Mr. Fisayo Soyombo, who won the 2016 Free Press Award for the Newcomer of the Year Category, which held in Hague, Netherlands, informed the new executives that while he cried, he was able to proffer solutions to the problems he faced, which is the most important, adding that the task would not be an easy one, the need for them to prepare well for the task ahead.

In his words, “I cried at the UCJ secretariat. There is no harm in crying, but after crying, look for solution.”

img-20161106-wa0006He advised that the administration should engage in prayers but also, to never give up during tough times. He urged the new President of the Union to identify the level of commitment of members of his administration and work with those who are ready to work.

“If all your executives supports you, you are a very lucky president. The ones who choose to support you, work with them. The best way for you to lead the executive council is by action rather be delegating that you can do it”, he said.

He further admonished the new executives to aim for the best in whatever they do as well as to build the connection with past members of the Union.

“Get as many past members as possible……Aim for the hugest possible target. You won’t get it but you will get something close to it”, he added.
