Food Price: Some Hall Chairs Say Members Are Okay With Increase — SU President, Host

The president of the Student’s Union, Samson Tobiloba ‘Host’, has revealed during the ongoing UISU Student Representative Council sitting that majority of the hall chairpersons asserted that students in their hall of residence are okay with the increase in the price of food by Cafeteria owners in the Hall of residence.

The president disclosed this while addressing the issue of increase in the price of a spoon of rice from N100 to N150. He revealed that it happened during a meeting with the council of hall chairpersons and the cafeteria owners.

“Majority, not all, of the hall chairpersons said it in front of the cafeteria owners that their members are well disposed to the increase in price of a spoon of rice, ” he said.

“However, in the recent poll the Union conducted concerning the increase, 80% of respondents are opposed to the increase of the price of a spoon of rice from N100 to N150.”

The disclosure has generated reactions from Council members in the ongoing sitting.
