The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan wishes to inform the general public most especially students of higher institution of learning in Nigeria that the entry submission deadline for the ‘Fisayo Soyombo Essay competition has been extended.
The ‘Fisayo Soyombo Essay competition is aimed at discovering young talented Nigerian students who are gifted in the art of writing. Also, it is an avenue to discuss and debate contemporary issues while profferring solutions to seemingly problematic areas.
This year’s contest which is the third edition focuses on the clamour to restructure the nation; whether restructuring is needed or not or what type of restructuring is needed – should it be a systematic or attitudinal form of restructuring?
The inter-varsity essay competition whose intial deadline was September 10, 2017 has now been extended by one month due to pleas from different quarters within and outside the host university. Also, the deadline extension is to encourage wider participation from higher institutions in the country most especially those in the Northern part.
In the same vein, the Local Organising Committee has deemed it fit to give those that could not submit before the deadline due to some reasons a chance to submit. In fact, we’re not at all short of entries at this point; we have already received the record application since this contest began three years ago.
The new deadline is Wednesday, October 10, 2017. While all entries are expected to be sent to ucjunibadan@gmail.com, the topic for the essay remains “Is it time to restructure Nigeria?”
