The final of the Dean’s Cup might have been a miserable tale and an endless story for those brave hearted men that displayed a high level of passion and worthy commitment towards a mirage that was yet to unfold. Indeed, they had just revealed to the whole world that we are not just about the books; we are strong, talented and highly skilled in the round leather game of football. This young men were about to bring back the trophy that has been lost for a long while, a treasure deep down in the trenches of the Pacific and far into the Sahara desert, lying in wait for the rightful owners, yet it had no power of its own, the rightful owners could be robbed of their intending glory, right in its face, victory was not deserved, it was a case of a thief who now owns the house he had not built, a treasure he had not discovered. The treasure chest is now located in the house of a man that never deserved it, dubious circumstances have helped him become who he is today, his castles are now structured in the air. It is a shame that bad officiating would never seize from the beautiful game of football, it has and would always rear its ugly head in situations like this. Even at the amateur and grass root level were we are supposed to maintain and uphold the right rules and enjoy soccer, some officials are out there to cause a blemish on the hard work and commitment of some young lads who have shown that even at this level, football can be played in the most attractive and artistic manner. This anomaly has to stop and the only way it can be put to the ground and buried six feet under the ground is by halting any form of corrupt practices and negative precedents that would act binding depending on whatever incident that might occur in future. The most glaring of incidents have been left unpunished while the dubious ones have certainly been heralded as the right ones; the hidden fouls that led to a free kick goal and a penalty goal. To the organizers of this event, moments like these definitely end up as history and they solely depend on how these moments are shaped. To Mechanical Engineering students, we might have lost the final but we are not bowing out in shame, we would always remain victors, triumphant in every facet of life, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
