The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Ibadan Chapter (ASUU UI) will hold its congress and a peaceful protest on Monday, November 28, 2022 and has declared that day as a lecture-free one in the university.
The congress titled ‘Enslavery of Nigerian Academics: A plot to kill Public Universities’, will be held at the Large Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Education in the University of Ibadan by 10am, and will feature prominent speakers including Professor Ademola Aremu, the former National Treasurer of the union; Comrade Abiodun Bamigboye (Abbey Trotsky), Oyo State Joint Action Front Secretary, Barrister Femi Aborishade,Socialist Labour National Leader, and Comrade Adewale Adeyinka, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU) President.
Immediately after the congress, the union will then embark on the peaceful protest against the Federal Government’s ‘no work, no pay’ imposed on them.
