The Hall Chairman of Kenneth Mellanby Hall, Mr. Olansile Olanrewaju (Advantage) has faced the brunt of the Hall Legislative Council and has been “sentenced to three days of apologizing”.
In an official statement released by the Hall Legislative Council, it was stated that the Hall Chairman has been charged with negligence of duty due to improper follow-up on the production of souvenirs (throw pillows) and has been ordered to write a letter of apology, stating the reasons for the inaccuracies in the production of the hall souvenirs and shirts, and address the same letter to the hall legislative council.
He was also told to publish three copies of the letter on the hall notice board and broadcast the letter of apology on all of the Hall’s WhatsApp pages.
The Legislative Council added that the Hall chairman should use the public address system to apologise to Mellanbites for three consecutive days.
It should be recalled that the hall packages were given out sometime last month and to the surprise of most Mellanbites, the size of some of the throw pillows was nothing to write home about, as some Mellanbites complained that they were not satisfactory.
The Hall Legislative Council then probed into the inaccuracies in the production of the hall package, only to find out that there was negligence of duty on the part of the Hall Chairman in not following up on the production of the hall package.
In an interview had with him, the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adedoyin Folorunsho informed MHPO, “We suspected due to the size of most throw pillows that there was financial impropriety. However, on further investigation we found out that the hall chairman was only guilty of negligence of duty and we meted out the corresponding punitive measures.”
The Hall Legislative Council has further ordered the Hall Chairman to ensure that the undistributed throw pillows that were returned to the producer should be adjusted and redistributed to those who have not been given their souvenirs.
