Prof. A. Coker, of the Department of Agricultural and Bio-environmental Engineering, Faculty of Technology, on Thursday, June 21, 2018, delivered the university’s 432nd Inaugural Lecture, titled “Environmental Engineering: Cornerstone of the Builders for Advancing Human Well-being”. The lecture, which was delivered at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, saw the professor discuss his research of 27 years in the areas of Environmental and Bio-medical Engineering, in a bid to improve the environmental conditions of the nation. He made mention of researches in a suburb of Ilorin and the resultant reduction in malaria prevalence, improved waste management and utilization at a leprosarium in Ogbomosho, and University College Hospital, Ibadan, patented inventions, and useful partnerships and grants that facilitated the research works. Prof. Coker and his team in the past 27 years have sought to improve the healthcare system and environmental conditions in the nation, something that has been greatly successful so far. In attendance were the university procession, led by the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Abel Olayinka, friends, families, former partners, colleagues, students and well-wishers. Visitors were received at the Faculty of Technology.
