It has been tradition that results from the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) Presidential Debate is never released to the general public. In actual fact, the aspirants are never graded by neither the panelists nor the editorial team. The debates aims only at reflecting and showcasing the true intellectual capacity of aspirants to the electorates giving room to every individual to mentally access and decide which of the aspirants justifiably deserves his or her vote.
It must be stated that the UCJ Presidential Debate is not a contest and never has any result being released concerning the outcome of the debate so as to ensure maximum objectivism and non-interference of the Press in influencing the decisions of the electorate at the polling booth.
This release became necessary as a result of reports from the camp of one of the Presidential aspirants publicly declaring their candidate as the winner of the Presidential Debate which held on Saturday, 9th April 2016. That information lacks any basis and is rendered FALSE and MISLEADING.
This action is only aimed at garnering popularity amongst the people and the Union of Campus Journalists will strongly frown at any attempt by any of the aspirants to mislead the public in order to amass support and votes.
