LET THE S.U. WEEK BEGIN…
The most anticipated moment of the semester has come. A period where the Redemption Team would pass through the furnace of assessment and be graded with hearts usurped with fury or ecstasy. Not remarks that sit on the fence, neither too good nor too bad. No mixed feelings! In fact, the Achilles’ Test for most associations in the University of Ibadan is the WEEK. That is when students of the said organization or group shower their pilots with praises or denigrate them to the minimal.
The Students’ Union Week is commencing on the 23rd of November, 2014 spanning through till the 30th of the same month and year. The Huntersola led administration must have braced up for the challenges of the week and they will understand that the students are eagerly anticipating a show befitting the measure of expected fun.
Just recently, the principal organiser of the Week, the Vice President of the S.U. Week was asked to come defend a budget several termed ‘outrageous’. Chidimma Akpa budgeted a whopping #21million for a 7day programme. It is pointless delving into the matter, now that the S.U week has got kicking.
Our words to the administration; we are not requesting a S.U week of the biggest artists in Nigeria or that which will see our Mr and Miss UI win houses, Or that which will require wasteful spending. We don’t need a white elephant project to have a flamboyant week. All we request is a week wherein each day is enthusiastically expected. We want a week flourished with ideas, not a money-wasting season! For the week to experience a massive turn-out, there must be an exhilarating effect each day. Only an effective planning will achieve that.
Dear Chidimma, to successfully inscribe your administration on the glorious tablets of stones, we ask that you carry out a fulfilling week!
We must forever relish this week.
