The Management of Great Independence Hall, University of Ibadan, has categorically refuted allegations of financial misappropriation and embezzlement levelled against two SU candidates who previously served as leaders in the hall: Mr Olaniyi Abiola (popularly known as Paradigm Shift) and Mr Oladipupo Al-Ameen (known as Sport Catalyst).
In an official memo released and signed on October 30, 2026, by the Hall Warden, Dr S.A. Odedokun, the management addressed recent viral claims circulated on various social media platforms by an anonymous group identifying as ‘Concerned UITE’. The published anonymous letter had alleged financial misconduct involving the former student officials.
Clarifying their official records, the Hall Management emphasised that both Mr Abiola and Mr Al-Ameen served meritoriously during the tenure of the Peculiar Gbolahan-led administration in their respective capacities as Secretary of State and Sports Commissioner.
The management explicitly stated that the rumours lack factual backing, noting that none of them is being investigated or indicted.
“The Hall Management wishes to state emphatically that none of them is being investigated or indicted in any form of misappropriation or embezzlement of funds in the Hall”.
Furthermore, the Hall Warden, Dr S.A. Odedokun, admonished that, “The concerned writer should do his/her work diligently and stop playing politics with people’s integrity and reputation”.
