In a press release dated 11 June 2026, the president of the Union of Campus Journalists, Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, Akinpelu Taofeek, on behalf of his organisation, expressed profound appreciation of the collaboration which has developed between both organisations, particularly with the UCJ’UI helping UCJFSSIB in its bid to become a more serious journalistic outfit particulary in the capacity of its members.
In the release, UCJFSSIB president had profound heartfelt words for Olanshile Ogunrinu, the erthwhile UCJ president, who he acknowledged was really welcoming of them and also was particularly committed to helping his organisation. He particularly recalled their first meeting with Mr Olanshile at the GCJS 2.0 on 11th October, 2025, where his professional hospitality towards them encouraged them to seek the opportunity to come to such insightful and inspirational events like the UCJ GCJS.
“I was extremely happy on that day because it significantly boosted my confidence. Meeting new people, I urge and encourage myself to attend inspiring and insightful programs, like yours, which are very well organised”, he said.
Lastly, he went on to thank the UCJ once again for its welcoming of him and his editor in chief in time past and furthermore expressed his anticipation of more collaboration and connection between both organisations under the current administration led by Ms Jesutomiwo.
“I am again using this moment to express my sincere gratitude for your hospitality and welcome to my editor-in-chief and me. I look forward to seeing more collaboration and connection from the UCJUI, which is led by the incumbent president of UCJUI, Ms Jesutomiwo (Miwo)”, he said.
This press statement comes on the backdrop of several collaborative actions carried out by the UCJUI in support of UCJFUSSIB, including a recent visit to the organisation by the UCJ Editor-in-Chief and a fellow Editor to assess the current situation and help with membership training.
