The University of Ibadan has released the updated version of its Student Handbook on its website.
The comprehensive 216-page document, which was made available on April 17, 2025, published by the Student Affairs Division of the University of Ibadan, provides students with essential information on various aspects of campus life.
According to Professor I.A. Abiona, the Dean of Students, the Student Affairs Division is committed to providing a conducive environment for learning and personal development.
“The Student Affairs Division oversees all aspects of student welfare in a bid to provide a conducive environment for learning and personal development,” he stated.
The updated handbook includes several key changes that students need to be aware of.
Fines for certain categories of offenses committed in the halls of residence now range from N1,000 and above, an update from the previous regulation that capped such fines at N1,000.
Students planning to stage demonstrations are required to notify the authorities in advance to ensure adequate protection from non-students and hoodlums.
The handbook also outlines new traffic regulations, including a N5,000 fine for offenses such as jumping queues, refusal to queue, and picking up passengers at unauthorized locations.
All staff and student-owned motorcars are required to be registered with the Intra-Campus Transport Committee.
Skating on major roads is strictly prohibited, and skaters are advised to restrict themselves to walkways and roads with low traffic flow, wearing protective gear at all times.
The handbook highlights various aspects of student life, including the 150 registered clubs, associations, and societies available for student participation, providing opportunities for students to engage in extracurricular activities and develop their skills.
An updated list of awards and prizes is also included in the handbook, recognizing students’ academic achievements and contributions to campus life.
The handbook reminds students that the time limit for visitors in the halls of residence is strictly 9:00 PM.
The updated handbook is effective from the 2023/2024 academic session and can be downloaded from the University of Ibadan’s website.
Students are advised to familiarize themselves with the new regulations and guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful academic session.
