The University of Ibadan held it’s Matriculation Ceremony for fresh students of the 2024/25 academic session at the International Conference Centre on 16th April, 2025.
The event was marked by a solemn oath taking ceremony where the Freshers swore the oath of studentship as administered by the Registrar, University of Ibadan.
Well-wishers and parents were in attendance as the 4,633 admitted students were matriculated into the institution.
Also in attendance was the Vice Chancellor and other staff of the University Management, who oversaw the ceremony, the Student Union Leadership led by the President as well as faculty Deans.
A keynote address was presented by UI Veterinary Medicine Alumnus, Dr. Olukayode Abiola Ayenuyo.
He advised the students to do everything as they start their journey in school because no knowledge is a waste.
“Embrace doing everything, no knowledge is lost. Find your fascination [and] be intentional in all that you do.” He advised
He further advised that they find balance in everything and to not just go through the motions.
“When you just go through the motion, you lose sight of any greater purpose.”
Following his address, he donated a sum of Five Million Naira to the University.
The Vice Chancellor also gave an address, urging the Freshers to ‘leave this university better than [they] met it.’
He highlighted the importance of prioritising excellence.
He also advised them to embrace discipline, manage time wisely and strive for distinction in their studies.
