The list of student-athletes representing the University of Ibadan at the Federation of International University Sports (FISU) Trials in Jos has been officially released.
The trials are scheduled to take place from April 6 – 12, 2025 at the University of Jos.
Ten athletes will represent the institution across six sport events including Taekwondo, Judo, Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Badminton.
The list of student-athletes include:
Judo: Ajani Samuel Ayomide (400-level, Arts & Social Sciences Education) and Adesina David Ayomikun (400-level, Sociology).
Athletics: Oladele Ibrahim Dolapo (400-level, Agronomy) and Akinniranye Oluwasemiloore Iyanuolu (300-level, Arts & Social Sciences Education).
Swimming: Gbenro G. Obaloluwa (500-level, Law) and Akinyemi Gloria Eniola ( 200-level Human Kinetics Education)
Table Tennis: Ibrahim Ayomide E. (300-level, Psychology).Badminton: Alade Elizabeth Olayinka Olayinka (400-level, Health Education).
Taekwondo: Oparinde Faith Ayomide (500-level, Veterinary Medicine) and Merotiwon Olumide (300-level, Philosophy).
The team will be accompanied by the Students’ Union Sports Secretary, Kolawole Victor Oluwatooni.
“We’ll be departing Ibadan by 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 6,” said the Sports Secretary in a chat with the UCJ correspondent.“We plan to have a stopover in Abuja. From Ibadan, we’ll head straight to Abuja where we’ll sleep over, then proceed to Jos the following day.”
The road journey from Ibadan to Jos takes approximately 10 to 16 hours, justifying the planned stopover in Abuja.
“The university is covering allowances for feeding and accommodation during the stopover as well,” the Sports Secretary added.
Athletes will be lodged at the NDLEA Academy in Jos, while the sporting events will be held at designated venues within the University of Jos.
