Full Fixtures: 48 Teams, 96 Matches…. Interesting Draws As Seals Cup Returns

The Organizing Committee of the 2024 Seals Cup, Monday, held a press conference for the competition’s draws.

The draws which are an important aspect of the competition, were held at the SRC Chambers of the Kunle Adepeju Building and had in attendance sports secretaries from across departments.

The competition will begin on Friday with the opening ceremony where Veterinary Medicine will play against Philosophy. The games would continue on Monday and all the games would have a duration of 60 minutes in accordance with the school rules.

The draws for the female category of the competition were held first and the ten participating teams were grouped into two groups of five, with the first two in each group advancing to the semi-final.

For Group A, this is the draw: LARIS, Philosophy, History, Archeology/Anthropology, and Nursing. In Group B, Linguistics, Statistics, MBBS, ASSE, and Public Health, would be facing each other.

The female matches will be five-aside. It will take place at the cricket pitch of the SUB Pitch and will be 15 minutes per half.

In the male category, the participating teams were placed into 8 Groups with Philosophy falling into Group A as the defending champions. They are in group with Elect-Elect, Veterinary Medicine, and Statistics.

In Group B, Agricultural Engineering is placed with English, Pharmacy, and Microbiology. In Group C, we have History, Mechanical Engineering, Nursing, and Psychology. In Group D, Linguistics, Industrial and Production Engineering, Physiology, and Adult Education.

Group F: Wood Products Engineering, Architecture, Animal Science, and Political Science. Group G: Engineering, Archeology/Anthropology, Public Health, and Computer Science. Finally, Group H with Petroleum Engineering, Classics, Agriculture, Economics, and Chemistry.

The Chairman of the SEALS Cup Committee, Ayobami Ojeniyi, also announced that rulebooks, where offenses and punishment are stated, would be released soon. Also, all participating teams will be allowed to pick a maximum of three outsiders (DLC Students or post-graduate)
