Ebrohimie Road: TFS, Others, Celebrate Wole Soyinka’s 90th Birthday With Tributary Screening

The Thursday Film Series (TFS) Club, University of Ibadan, in collaboration with the University Media Centre and IFRA-Nigeria, organized A Tributary Screening of Ebrohime Road, to celebrate Nobel Prize Winner Wole Soyinka’s 90th birthday.

This documentary which premiered at the Drapers Hall, Institute of African Studies, was written and directed by Kola Tubosun, a Nigerian Linguist and Writer.

The documentary highlights Soyinka’s days as an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan, his connection to Ebrohime Road; his civil war experiences including his imprisonment and release from custody.

Prominent attendees include Tunde Kelani, the documentary’s cinematographer; Professor Sola Olorunyomi, a lecturer from the Department of English; Chief Mrs. Olayide Soyinka, Wole Soyinka’s wife, among others.

The premiere also featured a panel session that focused on modern students and youth activism in Nigeria.

The second screening will be held today at Wole Soyinka’s former residence at Ebrohimie Road, University of Ibadan.
