FEES HIKE: UISU Stakeholders Directs Students To Stop Payment Of School Fee

By Emmanuel Utibe

The University of Ibadan Students Union stakeholders have passed a resolution that mandates all students to avoid paying for the new school fees displayed on the payment portal, in a meeting that was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

The resolutions of this meeting included the union putting out a release properly informing all students about its stance and imploring them to desist from paying the outrageous fees displayed on the portal; an online campaign to show displeasure with the state of things; sensitize students especially freshers on the need to stand by the union’s position; also constituting a committee to review and propose a more workable fee for students.

The meeting which was expected to have in attendance the Chairperson of Halls, President of Faculty and Departments, Halls assembly speaker, speakers of the legislative council of Faculties and Departments, AUCSF President, MSSN Amir, and UCJ President, turned out to be a gathering of just a fair numeric strength with less than 40 persons in attendance.

Speaking to Our Correspondent, the President of the Students’ Union, Aweda Bolaji charged all students to conform to the resolution of the student stakeholder holders.

“My charge to students is that they should please, let’s make this easy for ourselves. The representatives came here to speak the minds of the students and let’s try our possible best to make it easier by adhering to do what we have decided here to do for the best interest of the students,” he said.
