The Union of Campus Journalist, University of Ibadan (UCJUI) on Saturday, April 1, held the induction of her new members and the Famous Five Awards (FFA) ceremony. The event, which was organised by the 34th administration, took place in Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.
In attendance at the event were important personalities such as revered investigative journalist and founder of Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), Mr. Fisayo Soyombo; fact-checker and finance journalist, Mrs. Seyi Awojulugbe; the publisher of Premium Times and the founder of Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi; the representative of UCJUI’s grand patron, Mr. Mojeed Alabi; Mr. Olaoye, the representative of Mrs. Faluyi, the University Registrar; Dr. Babatunde Ojebuyi, the representative of the Vice-Chancellor and the Dean of Students, and many others.
In her address to the inductees, Mrs. Awojulugbe encouraged them to be devoted to practising journalism ethically.
“Everyone is a thread that makes the fabric of Nigeria. Everything we do, and everything we stand for will lead to the change we want to see in our society,” she says.

There was also a panel discussion on Students’ Leadership and Press Freedom at the event. Moderated by the Editor-in-Chief of Indy Press, John ‘Dare Okafor, the panel session featured Dr. Babatunde Ojebuyi, Mrs. Seyi Awojulugbe, and the Students’ Union President, Adeyinka Adewole (Mascot) as panelists.
The presentation of the outstanding Famous Five Awards recognised the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ibadan, Professor Stella Odebode, as she bagged the Academic Personality of the Year Award. Mr. Oluwamayowa Tijani, who is the awardee of the Journalism category was represented by Mrs. Seyi Awojulugbe who received the award on his behalf. Mr. Nurudeen Bakare received the Entrepreneurship category award, while famous Nollywood actor, Kunle Remi, who was represented by Victoria Aanu is the awardee of the entertainment category award.
There was also the presentation of the Overall Best Inductee for the 34th administration which was received by Eriomala John of Indy Press.
