NUGA 2022: UI crashes out in Volleyball, Football, Tennis

The University of Ibadan Volleyball team has been eliminated at the quarter-final round of the ongoing NUGA games at the University of Lagos, Akoka.


UI lost to Nile University team in three sets. Nile University took control of the game after they claimed the first set 25-20; they then took the second set ended 25-19, before putting the game to rest after winning the third set 25-15.


The victory ensured that Nile University would advance to the semi-final, where they would now face UNILAG, who also defeated ABU Zaria in the other Quarter final game.


The defeat to the UI male volleyball team came not up to 24 hours after the UI male and female football teams were knocked out by the University of Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe University, respectively.


Nnamdi Azikwe University whooped the UI Amazons 5 goals to 1, while UNILAG defeated the UI Pioneers via a solitary second-half goal.


Also, it was the same sad tale in Tennis, as after an impressive victory over Usman Danfodio University, on Thursday, the UI team was eliminated in the round of 16 after losing in straight sets to Ekiti State University.
