SMPN Holds Annual Award Ceremony

In a bid to celebrate and reward the efforts put in by members across different chapters, the Students Media Personality, Nigeria (SMPN) on Thursday, 30th December 2021 held her annual award ceremony.

The ceremony which was held virtually at SMPN’s Whatsapp channel was graced by members from different chapters across Nigeria, as well as two dignitaries – Mr. Edwin Evbie, Group Head, Maritime Services Catamaran Group, and Mr. Lekan Otufodurin, Head, Media Career Development Network.

The convener, Anthony Devoyce, when giving the keynote speech appreciated every member of the organization who stayed true to the cause and kept the flag flying. He then bemoaned the inability of the organization to achieve some of its set goals owing to the pandemic. Moving on, he urged the members of the organization to do more the following year.  

The first category of the award, the non-voting award category, includes the SMPN award for excellence, which was won by Obega Favour, the SMPN special recognition award was won by the convener, Anthony Devoyce. 11 leaders of SMPN were awarded The best SMPN leadership team.

The voting category of the award featured ‘The chapter of the year award’ which was won by SMPN OAU; the Leadership Award was won by Sotubo Ayomide; Ogunsanya Oladotun clinched the Selflessness award; while Christabel Oragui was named for the Welfare Award. Other awardees in this category include Kamara Ugwueke, Best executive award; Precious Ibeh, Creativity award; Adeshina Aminat, Innovation award; Precious Ewuji, Revelation of the year award; Odeyemi Oluwadamilare and Opeyemi Oluwatoni, most influential award, male and female respectively.

It was a double honour for Precious Ewuji as she was also given the Oma Areh SMPNITE of the year award for the best overall SMPN member of the year while Moses Adikwu got the Dapo King SMPNITE of the year award for the outstanding SMPN member of the year.
