The University of Ibadan has announced 14th, 16th and 17th of November as the 2020 Graduation and 72ndFoundation day Ceremonies.
This was contained in a document released by the institution and signed by the Deputy Registrar (Examination and Records), S. O Oyewumi.
It should be recalled that the institution was closed to students on March 23rd following the Federal Government’s directives part of its efforts to curtail the COVID: 19 Pandemic.
The ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which further contributed to the completion of 2018/2019 academic session had earlier raised huge doubt regarding this year’s convocation and founder’s day ceremony.
The year’s event scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC), University of Ibadan, would be opened to graduands only, while parents and guardians are encouraged to follow the proceeding online on the university website—www.ui.edu.ng.
Also, there will be no form of partying or social gathering after the events as the university seeks to comply strictly with COVID-19 protocols.
UCJ UI gathers that the convocation would only accommodate one undergraduate Faculty—the Faculty of Law, which ran a sped up academic calendar in order to meet up with the Nigerian Law School resumption and its graduating students results had since been approved by the Senate earlier this year.
