University of Ibadan has opened application for participation in the Geo-Hackathon competition.
Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the university’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, who disclosed this, said that the competition will help to develop innovative solutions and bridge the gap between industry and society.
This year’s season is the second of its kind to be hosted by the varsity, following its premier in January 2019. According to Professor Adeyemo, this year’s season would be organized in partnership with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) and Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project (IUFMP).
“On the strength of this collaboration, the Oyo State Government has shared its Ibadan City Master Plan, Urban Flood Risk and Drainage Master Plan, Early Warning Systems and Geoportal/GIS Database with the University of Ibadan for innovative research for sustainable development”, she added.
The theme of the competition is “Ibadan Urban Resilience”. Interested students have been requested to send their details (email address and phone number) to ab.sakpere@ui.edu.ng or ronkesakpere@gmail.com no later than 9th November, 2020.
