UIMC TO BUILD EVENT CENTRE
The University of Ibadan Muslim community is set to construct an events centre on the mosque premises.
The UIMC who have in the past made use of either the mosque’s car park or the interior part of the mosque for ceremonies have demolished the building formerly used as a library and tutorial centre and there are plans to replace it with a much needed events centre.
The library and the tutorial centre have however been shifted to other places within the mosque’s vicinity.
FACULTY OF AGRIC APPROVES N2 MILLION BUDGET
The legislative arm of the faculty of Agriculture has approved the budget of over two million naira presented by the faculty executives.
The approval of the budget for this year’s dispensation was made on Thursday at the sitting of the house held at the first bank building.
The approved budget does not include the budget from the office of the Public Relations Officer though as he is yet to defend his budget before the house.
BB LED ADMINISTRATION PRODUCES SOUVENIR
Beginning from Monday, 14th June 2014, the Babatunde Badmus led administration gave out notebooks to Uites as souvenir from the students’ union.
The souvenir which is the first of its kind after the resuscitation of the UI students’ union was a surprise to many students as they did not expect anything more from this regime that is already drawing to a close.
KHSRC END PROCEEDING WITHOUT RATIFYING BUDGET
The Kuti Hall Students’ Representative Council was unable to continue with her proceedings which held on Wednesday, 16 July 2014, because the budget which was to be reviewed had not been made available to the members before the meeting.
A motion to end the sitting was raised by Hon. Ayobami and was seconded by the deputy clerk, Hon. Israel for two major reasons: notification of the sitting was given less than 48 hours before the meeting and the budget had not been given to the honourable members prior to the sitting.
ETISALAT TO GIVE A AWAY A BRAND NEW CAR
Etisalat will be giving away a brand new car at the raffle draw session of its Cliq fest.
The Cliq fest which is to come up on the 24th and 25th of July at the Pope John Paul II hall of the Catholic Church and the school field respectively will feature first the raffle draw followed by a novelty match.
Tickets for the draw have been on sale since Monday last week; buyers purchased two SIM cards and got a ticket.
TUNDE KELANI COMING TO UI
Veteran film maker and Managing Director, Mainframe film and Television Productions (OPOMULERO), Tunde Kelani will deliver the 2014 Distinguished Lecture Series of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan.
He is to deliver a lecture on the topic ‘The Place of the Indigenous Film in a Nation Rattled by Violence’. The event is to hold on July 23rd, 2014 at the Faculty of Arts Large Lecture Theatre (LLT).
The public lecture which will start by 5 pm would be chaired by Professor Niyi Osundare while the host would be the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor Aderemi Raji-Oyelade.
Following the lecture there will be a Special Premiere of Mainframe’s latest film, Dazzling Mirage, at 7:30pm to honour Dr Olayinka Egbokhare whose novel of the same title inspired the film adaptation.
SFRF INDUCTS NEW MEMBERS
On Saturday the 19th of July, the Students’ Farm Research Foundation concluded its induction process for all its new members.
The week long programme came to end on Saturday after the induction ceremony. The week also featured symposia and an excursion to motivate new members.
The foundation will also be organising a public lecture on Friday at the First Bank Building, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, to discuss relevant and contemporary issues on agriculture and youth.
