UI STUDENT WINS WAG -ARC COMPETITION

Odesola Blessing, a 400 level student of the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan has won the maiden edition of Women and Girls Advancements and Resources Centre (WAG-ARC) annual Research Essay Competition to mark the International Youth Day.

The essay competition, which was put together for undergraduates in tertiary institutions across Nigeria was organized as part of VOICE Innovation Lab: Youth2Youth Flagship for Social Change aimed at promoting creative writing and develop reading culture amongst Nigerian youths.

Reacting to the win, she said: “This is the second essay I would ever write in my entire life although my first essay was a warm up and it was less than a thousand words. As a lazy student, I started working on the essay a week before the deadline, I was lost, my boss gave me certain pointers, I researched and researched. Mind you, my laptop is a TV definitely, it would be difficult to work on it so, I had to use my phone.”

Blessing also added that she suffered heart palpitations and was ecstatic winning the essay contest as it was her first win.
