The road seems cold, work places deserted, schools shutdown, plans and projects halted. This unwelcomed august visitor indeed took us by surprise. Suddenly stealing the spotlight on every news channel and the major headlines on all newspapers. How it has the power to put the whole world on hold is very baffling, forcing everyone to dance to the beats of its drum. It is one whose numbers and statistics fill innocent eyes with fear, leaving man helpless and hopeless as this season seems endless.
Everything works together for our good right? We haven’t been given the spirit of fear? Be of good cheer for I have overcome the world? Although there is assurance in the Word, many still create a little allowance for fear, doubt and uncertainties. Why?
Even in every bad you can bring out a good, you just need to look for the rainbow in the storm. Yes, everyone is stuck at home, how about you bond with your family? It may be difficult working from home with the kids, but you have no idea the excitement they get just by seeing you around. Your plans may be halted or even cancelled, probably after months of planning; maybe it wasn’t meant to be or there’s something bigger coming soon.
You miss Lagos traffic, being in school, socializing with friends and hanging out, but this time has made you appreciate all those things and notice the little things going on around you. We may have been forced to observe this holiday without prior notice, however, there’s no need to while away time thinking of what you could’ve been doing.
How about you make use of the time now. Pick up good old habits, video call friends, take online courses, read books, learn something new, bake and cook till you’re a chef, plan your future. Whatever it is, just do it! Who knows when next you’ll get this opportunity? Build yourself now so you can be hot cake later. Appreciate what you have now because you don’t know when it will be gone. You don’t know what you have until you lose it, so make yourself some lemonades with the lemons before you.
