Thirteen weeks of lecture, one gone already, this is the starting of another. For freshmen, this is the starting of a journey, to the stale students, it is the continuation of the journey. No matter the peculiarity of the case, nothing stops us from welcoming everyone to the campus, even in the second week. You are all welcome. We hope you make good use of this session.
Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan is the body of all pressmen on Campus and we are not relenting this session in serving your tables with news and articles aimed to reform, to correct, to educate, to entertain and to point out for the common good of our immediate society. We have two media in which we channel these to you, the website and the board. We anticipate you to visit our website (www.ucjui.com) and as well, read our board, comfortably situated at SUB along the Faculty of Art. UCJ UI has been championing freedom by the pen for thirty-two years.
For stale students, proceeding to next level in the University system especially in Nigeria comes with mixed feelings. Feeling of the unknown. To some, last session might not be like what they expected, probably it was even nothing to write home about. Probably, there was a drop in point or even in class. To some, last session was what they expected, probably even their reality superseded the expectation. Whichever way, a new session has called already, the other thing worth doing is forging ahead. Only learn from past bad experience, do not let the regrets of bad past experience lead to another bad experience.
For freshmen, gaining admission to the Premier University is great, the only way to make it greater is by being steadfast. In fact, enough of the fact that you are lucky to have been chosen by the prestigious University of Ibadan, you really have a debt to pay for being chosen. You owe everyone who is aware of the fact that you are now a student of the University, so, do not disappoint them by not paying well.
As we move unto new experiences, may the road be rough and may the road be straightened by insurmountable efforts.
