The Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Chairman, Mr Ojo Olugbenga (Oxygen) and the Finance Minister of the Hall, Mr Adesina Samuel have been suspended indefinitely from office by the Legislative Council, at the dusk of the 13th October 2018, after rigorous questioning pertaining to some incomes and expenses of the Hall, until they submit a valid explanation of all the deposits and withdrawals made so far by the Council.
It was discovered by the House that there has been gross misappropriation of funds by the two and some other officers of the Executive Council. Some funds were not remitted and they have not been accounted for by the Council.
In the lieu of the discovery, a finance ad-hoc committee has been constituted to investigate and give report back to the House on the matter.
The Vice Chairman, Mr Babatunde Badmus has been inaugurated as the Acting Hall Chairman till the condition given on the suspension of the Hall Chairman has been met.
The Finance Minister, Mr Adesina Samuel is also expected to write an apology letter, addressed to the House for his act of recalcitrance to the House and negligence of duty.
The Social Minister, Mr. Farouq (Flourish) as well risks suspension if he fails to give detailed report on how the DSTV subscription fees have been spent so far on or before the next Council sitting.
