Unilesha beat UI 25-2 on the first day of the southwest universities games competition which was hosted by UI, scheduled for June 25- 27th of June, 2025 at the University of Ibadan Handball Court. The game consists of seven team players on each team, six team players and a goalkeeper to stop the ball.
The match ended 9-2 in the first half of the game in favour of Unilesha girls due to the fact that UI girls freed the opponent’s no 6 which caused them that much. The University of Ibadan handball players won a penalty in the first half of the game, Ibukun scored the penalty, the same person that scored the other goal before halftime.
The match continued after halftime with a few minutes rest given to the players, Unilesha girls really improved in the second half of the games where they scored 14 more goals, UI girls only had the opportunity to add one more goal to their two goals in the second half. University of Ibadan’s opponent also had penalties which they scored. The second half game looked like a one-sided match where the opponent outplayed the host.
The match ended 25-2 in favour of the Elisha’s after 60 minutes of total play, 30 in the first and the second halves.The second leg of the game is tomorrow 26th of June, 2025 between the two teams.
