The University of Ibadan Students Union (UISU) has requested for the assistance of the students of the university in fighting insecurity off-campus in the upcoming session.
In a recent release by the Union, it was stated that to assist the Union, the students who wish to stay off-campus in the upcoming session should go to the Students Union Building (SUB) to fill out a form containing their names, addresses, and the areas they intend to reside.
It was made known in the Special Release that this move to fight insecurity was made after the Union was informed that a student whose identity is yet to be revealed was robbed and shot.
“According to the union’s findings, having visited University Health Care Centre, the University Security Unit, and Sango Police station, the Union got to know that he was rushed to a nearby private hospital for first aid treatment and he is currently responding very well to treatment in an undisclosed hospital,” the Special Release further reads.
The Union said it has also made further efforts to improve the state of security off-campus by scheduling another security meeting with the Executive Assistant on Security to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
