The University of Ibadan Student Union has released a newly reviewed intra transport fare list in a special release.

In the release, the Auspicious team stated that these reviewed fares apply to all destinations in University of Ibadan and students are not expected to pay more than what has been stated as transport fares to the various destinations.

The SU has also given a directive to students to report any form of extortion made by any transport provider to the numbers provided in the graphics.

The graphics referred to above contains various destination in the University of Ibadan and the fares that would be paid to get there from the University’s First gate.

Some of the destinations include; Kuti, Awo, Faculty of Technology and Faculty of Law, which had 100, 200, 250 and 200 respectively.

When asked how the SU plans to make sure that all transporters follow the reviewed transport fare, the House Secretary, Oluwaseun Adeyemi explained that the physical presence of the transport committee members and sanctions will help prevent exploitation of students.

In a voice note he explained how this would be done.

In his words; “Our assurance of enforcing this is our presence.”

Now, we’ve been moving about since Friday and we’ve had three meetings with the committee and their chairman before now and we plan to station our members throughout tomorrow, we were there today (Saturday), but we left today due to the fact that we didn’t plan that students will resume very much today (Saturday), but from tomorrow (Sunday) till Monday, when the students resume fully, our men will be stationed there, hundred percent and they would be stationed at respective hostels to avoid exploitation and these people (committee members) will give us updates.”

“So, we’ll know how things are going and there are sanctions for anyone that goes against these rules and these sanctions will prevent the exploitation.”

It should be noted that even after the last transport fare review made under the team Amelioration, there were cases of defaulters among the cab men.
