Following the inability of the scheduled Congress to form a quorum, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union President, Covenant Odedele, postponed it to a later date.
This he noted was necessary as the available students at the SUB Foyer were 251, only half of the required 500-student quorum.
He also stated that they had tried their best at mobilising students to attend the Congress, but unfortunately, they still fell short of the required number.
“We may be left with no other option than to plan better for a new Congress. We’ve tried our best to mobilise students from different halls, we have asked leaders across multiple constituencies. We have tried our best to ensure that we have a quorum for this Congress” he stated.
His address was soon followed by a letter headed release announcing the postponement of the Congress to a later date which will be announced in due course.
Note that 2 hours and 32 minutes had gone by since the scheduled time for the Congress, yet no quorum was formed.
