The 9th Assembly of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union has on Saturday, 8th July held its valedictory sitting, recounting its activities and achievements for the concluding academic session.
In making recommendations to the succeeding 10th Assembly, outgoing members of the Assembly harped on the need for clear-cut separation of powers, increased relevance as an arm of the Students’ Union, inflexible discipline among its own members, publicity of the Assembly activities, accountability and due representation of constituency.
Recounting its toll of achievements as an Assembly, the UI’SRC 9th Assembly noted that it was able to discipline erring officials of the Students’ Union, timely interventions in students’ affairs, successfully incorporate new ad-hoc committees into the Union, such as Committee on Disparities and Students’ rights, Students’ Welfare Committee, Implementation Committee among others.
Expressing her gratitude to members of the Assembly, the Speaker of the 9th Assembly, Rt Honorable Olatoye Eniola noted that the Assembly was co-operative and dutiful in its constitutional obligations.
The 9th Assembly was ultimately dissolved at exactly 2:39pm.
