The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan will deliberate on the appointment of an acting Vice Chancellor on Monday, OYOINSIGHT reports.
OYOINSIGHT had earlier reported that the university may get an acting VC following the alleged irregularities in the selection process of the next VC.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, had also ordered the re-commencement of the selection process on Tuesday.
The Council’s chairman, Mr. Waklek who spoke with newsmen over the phone has denied allegations that he is conspiring to install an aspirant as the next VC.
He said: “The allegations are not true. But you know when people are not happy with something they can say anything. The issue has been such that I wouldn’t want to talk to the press now. If you wouldn’t mind, you would have to call back.”
Mr. Waklek also said a meeting will be held on Monday.
A source who spoke with OYOINSIGHT said the meeting scheduled for Monday will also deliberate on a timetable for the re-commencement of selection process, asides making a decision on an acting vicc chancellor,
“I can tell you now that the meeting on Monday is to set a new timetable for the selection process and to decide on the appointment of an acting VC, the source stated.
