The University of Ibadan has temporarily suspended water supply in the University community due to an ongoing stabilization work being carried out at the Awba dam embankment.
This was announced in an internal memorandum sent out to all students from the office of the registrar, on the 6th of July, 2025.
The memorandum explained that the stabilisation exercise was essential to prevent collapse of the embankment.
“The stabilisation exercise is essential to prevent the collapse of the embankment and it’s attendant disastrous consequences”, the memorandum read.
It was also stated in the memorandum that efforts were being made in the exercise, so that it can be ended within a “short possible time”.
The Registrar apologized for all the inconvenience that the suspension of water supply would cause and he solicited for understanding, asking students to bear with the University authority.
