The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Idowu Olayinka, has said there is a possibility the department of Nursing will become a full-fledged Faculty.
Prof Olayinka made this declaration on Saturday, August 1st in a statement published on the University’s website at the groundbreaking of a 300-capacity auditorium for the Department.
The VC added that with the Department striving to attain a world-class institution, “the ideal thing is to expand by improving on the infrastructure and man power. The Department can become a Faculty. Why not? We must be ready to do it.”

To achieve this vision, he emphasized on the cooperation of the University, the College of Medicine and the Alumni.
The VC also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Head, Department of Nursing, Prof Prisca Adejumo, for her productivity towards the progress of the Department.
Corroborating, Prof Olayinka Omigbodun, the new Provost of the College of Medicine added that Nursing department would expand during her tenure by introducing more programmes and creating more departments to facilitate its transformation into a Faculty.
