UI and UWE Sign MOU to Strengthen Academic Ties

The University of Ibadan (UI) and the University of the West of England (UWE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on research, student and staff exchange, and joint programs.

This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both institutions for mutual benefits.

The MOU was signed during a ceremony at UWE’s Bristol campus, where UI’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, expressed his institution’s enthusiasm for the collaboration.

Professor Adebowale highlighted UI’s 70 years of experience in international collaboration and its growth from a College of the University of London to a leading institution in Nigeria and Africa.

The partnership will focus on research collaboration, student and staff exchange programs, joint degree programs, curriculum development, teaching and supervision, conferences, seminars, and workshops.

The UI delegation was ledd by Professor Adebowale, included Professor Aderonke Baiyeroju, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics); Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose, SAN, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership; Professor Sherifat Aboaba, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and Professor Ayodele Jegede, Director of the Research Management Office.

While the UWE team, led by Professor Sir Steve West CBE, Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Officer, also comprised Professor Paul Olomolaiye, Pro-Chancellor; Jo Midgley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Registrar; Professor Amanda Coffey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost; Professor Yvonne Beach, PVC and Head of College; Professor Elena Marco, PVC and Head of College; and Dr James Lee, PVC and Head of College.

This partnership is expected to foster academic excellence, innovation, and mutual growth between the two institutions, providing opportunities for students, staff, and researchers to engage in collaborative projects and exchange programs.
