After multiple images which surfaced on WhatsApp groups earlier today, showing a yet-to-be-identifed student—“Dehinde”— hurled verbal missiles at a University of Ibadan lecturer for cancelling a scheduled test, #finddehinde has become a twitter sensation.
“Dehinde,” who allegedly used the matriculation number 205423, which was said to belong to Ajasa Ruth Olabimpe of the Faculty of Public Health, has since been trending on Twitter. There are also speculations that “Dehinde” may not be the real name of the student whose singular act is now a comic sensation in the University.
“Dehinde” openly demonstrated his annoyance during SOC 212 lecture that was held on Zoom in the early hours of Tuesday, accusing the lecturer of making students undergo unnecessary ordeal for a proposed test, only for the test to be cancelled.
The yet-to-be-identifed student said: “So after all these prompt (sic) to prepare for the test and presentation, you come here and keep talking and talking and talking.”
“Dehinde” also dared the lecturer, saying “I have no business with you. Write down my number matrix (matricu number) for all I care.”
The Representative of the class, Chibuzor Martins, while informing his colleagues of the position of the allegedly insulted lecturer, said: “Good morning everyone the woman just called me now and the HOD spoke to me. pls and pls for the sake of ur test and exam which is 60/40 marks any department where DEHINDE DW is found and no one is willing to release his full name the whole department will lose 60 marks 30 for the test and 30 for the exam, if found later.
“You all have 20 mins to send the person’s details to me now or lose 60 marks. Both in exams and tests. No jokes I swear. The woman dey para for me like say na me talk am Enter my DM if you know who the person is or if u are done enter my DM and save others from suffering from ur stupidity.”
UCJ UI later gathered that the said lecturer has rescinded on her decision to penalise the students for Dehinde’s brusque comments.
As of the time of filing this report, no information has been gathered about this yet-to-be-identifed student . However, the concerned students as well as other students from the Faculty of Law who are taking the concerned course are still in search of “Dehinde.”
