The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan (UCJ UI), has announced the postponement of the second edition of its annual Global Campus Journalism Summit (GCJS 2.0) and the finals of the Prof. Francis Egbokhare Inter-Press Debate Competition, originally scheduled to hold on the 5th of July, 2025.

This change of date was disclosed in an official statement released on the 1st of July, 2025.

In the notice, which was signed by the President of the Union, Olanshile Ogunrinu, and the Vice President (Administration), Moboluwarin Ogunleye, the reason for the postponement was cited as “unavoidable logistical challenges.”

The statement further explained that “this decision was made to be a necessary one to ensure that we deliver an experience that reflects the excellence and value that all participants, speakers, and sponsors deserve.”

According to the Union, the GCJS 2.0 and the debate finals are not just gatherings but “vibrant platforms for learning, collaboration, and leadership in the media space.”

The postponement, it stated, is only temporary and was made in the interest of delivering a more seamless, impactful, and inclusive experience.

The Union assured the public that all previous registrations and confirmations will remain valid.

“A new date will be communicated in due course, and all existing expressions of interest, registrations, and confirmations will remain valid,” the statement read.

While apologizing for any inconvenience the postponement may cause, the Union expressed appreciation for the understanding and patience of participants and stakeholders, adding that the rescheduled events will exceed all expectations.

The Union urged individuals with questions or concerns to reach out via their official email: ucjunibadan@gmail.com.
