The Union of Campus Journalists University of Ibadan has inaugurated new executives to steer the affairs of the union in the 2021/2022 academic session.
The new executives who make up the 34th administration of the union were sworn in at the union’s handover/award ceremony, which held at the Abdusalam Abubakar Post graduate hall on Saturday October 23.
The new administration is headed by Ibukunoluwa Dada, a 400-level student of the faculty of Agriculture, and immediate past Public Relations Officer of the UCJ.
Dada would be assisted by Phil Animeke and Oluwatobi Odeyinka, the Vice Presidents in charge of administrative and editorial duties respectively.
Other members of the new administration are Lawal Raimat, Adedoja Adewale, Jubril Olalekan, and Victoria Saanu.
In her handover speech, Fasilat Rauf, the immediate past President of the union, narrated her sacrifices and achievements as the longest serving President of the union.
Rauf’s reign was prolonged beyond a year as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted academic activities across the country.
In her emotional speech, she disclosed that the experience was turbulent, “but we carried on, and I am glad we recorded many achievements.”
The former President was full of praises to members of her team for their cooperation and dedication to the progress of the union. Notably among them were Shamusudeen Kareem and Babatunde Balogun who were awarded most active and most supportive executives respectively.
Kareem served as the Vice President Editorial while Balogun was the Assistant General Secretary.
The newly inaugurated executives appreciate all Pressmen for their support and seek improved dedication to the union’s activities.
“You are always welcome to reach out to any of us and visit the secretariat,” the 34th administration stated in a jointly signed statement.
