The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan held a Press conference on the 20th of June , 2025 to announce that it is set to hold the Global Campus Journalists Summit on the 5th of July 2025.
The press conference which took place at Room 38, Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan was kicked off with the press prayer by the Vice President Editorial, Miss Ayeye Toluwalope.
It was then followed by a speech by the President of the union, Mr Olanshile Ogunrinu.
The press conference was held to announce two major events to be organised by the union including the Global Campus Journalism summit (GCJS) and the Profeseor Francis Egbokhare Inter LPO Debate Competition.
According to the Vice President Administration, the theme for this year’s GCJS is; “From campus to newsroom, sustaining true freedom and innovation in the age of AI” .
While preliminary rounds for the debate competition will start days before, the finals along with the GCJS will be held on the same day.
The debate competition, is going to be divided into the hall streams, and faculty streams, with one winner.
The modalities for the debate Competition were explained, and it was stated that the debate will be using the British Parliamentary style.
Registration for the debate will commence from 20th till 22nd of June, 2025.
These events will be graced by press organizations from different universities in Nigeria.
