An alumnus of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, Kunle Adebajo has won two awards at the 2025 West African Media Excellence Award. He won the Journalist of the Year as well as the award for the Illicit Financial Flow Reporting category at the conference and award ceremony held in Accra, Ghana on October 11, 2025.
Adebajo won the Illicit Financial Flow Reporting category for his investigation on the funding of the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its militias titled The Internet Fundraising Marathons Behind IPOB’s Armed Struggle in Nigeria published for HumAngle.
Adebajo, who was the Investigations and Factcheck Editor for HumAngle, was one of the twenty-six shortlisted individuals for the 2025 award ceremony. The winners were awarded after a three-days long conference where journalists and industry leaders met and discussed.
Adebajo, during his studentship days, contributed immensely to the University of Ibadan campus journalism scene and was notable for his contributions on the Courtroom desk. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of Kenneth Mellamby Hall Press Organisation and the Features Editor of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan.
