UCJ features editor and student of the department of Communication and Language Arts, Fiyinfoluwa Ibrahim was announced gold winner of Future Creative Leaders Academy Student of the Year Award.
This was made known via an email sent to the award recipients.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Ibrahim affirmed that he was ecstatic at having received the FCLA Award.
He reminisced about the sleepless nights and helpful seniors and peers and was thankful to them all, as well as his lecturer.
“To be candid, I feel ecstatic a bit about winning the award at the FCLA Competition, this is not just for me, but for the department and every other person who contributed to my efforts in getting that medal.
“I had a lot of help from my seniors in the years before me. The previous winners also did a lot for me; the previous contestants also gave me a lot of guidance, also with the lecturer who also did a lot for us” he said.
He further acknowledged his team members, also CLA students, without whom, he opines, the University of Ibadan would not have been awarded the School of the year.
“I was not just the only person involved in it, the school of the year is not just my effort per se, but the aggregation of us, basically” he explained.
His teammates at the competition were Atitepi Iwalola and Odewole Adesewa.
CLA Lecturer, Dr. Yinka Egbokhare was also specially recognized as Lecturer of the Year, while the University of Ibadan also awarded the School of the Year.
The Future Creative Leaders Academy (FCLA) is a youth Programme of the Pitcher Festival of Creativity designed for students in tertiary institutions.
It provides a platform for intensive learning, discovering talents, as well as inspiring and immersing hopeful professionals into the world of advertising and marketing communications.
The programme also provides platform for selecting participants for the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy of the Cannes Lions Festival.
Last session, in a similar fashion, two CLA students, Olawoyin Kehinde and Abah Boniface, had also won first and second position respectively in the FCLA Awards, while Dr. Egbokhare had been similarly awarded the Lecturer of the Year.
