The champions are back, and boots have clashed, goals scored. Here is an objective list of the top four performers in the first round of the champions’ league games:
BARCELONA
Barcelona in their opening game were simply excellent as they dispatched PSV Eindhoven 4 goals to nil. Although they were struggling for some parts of the game, they were excellent. Lot of questions were asked when Barcelona were knocked out prematurely by Roma last season and some people even doubted Barcelona’s ability to beat PSV Eindhoven. Barcelona quickly dispelled any doubts by winning convincingly at Camp Nou.
REAL MADRID
Real Madrid were the second best performers in the first round of champions league game as they still remain the team to beat. Real Madrid once again played some brilliant football as they dispatched Roma 3goals to nil. Their passing were excellent and their style of play was simply stylistic. Isco opened the scoring with a wonderful free kick and Mariano ended the scoring with a wonderful strike into the top right corner of the net. They are still the team all the other candidates will have to overcome.
LIVERPOOL
Liverpool beat PSG at Anfield 3-2. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were refreshing and their style of playing was exciting and also quite effective. Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead through Daniel Sturridge and James milner. PSG levelled the scores later on but Liverpool’s sheer determination and persistence led to Roberto firmino scoring a late winner. Liverpool were nothing short of excellent in their game against PSG
OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS
Olympique Lyonnais showed great skill, composure, determination and strength as they beat Manchester city at the Ethiad stadium 2-1. They produced a fine and stellar performance to beat man city. Most people never expected them to draw not even win that match. The odds were stacked against them however they still went on to shock the football world by winning the match.
